STEP 1 – Ask Questions

The first step is to identify some of the problems you are noticing with your child.  Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Is my child bright but underperforming in school? Do their grades reflect their effort?
  2. Does my child have trouble learning numbers, the alphabet, days of the week, or colors and shapes?
  3. Does the teacher report or do I think my child has difficulty sustaining their attention?
  4. Does my child have difficulty understanding questions and following directions?
  5. Does my child have difficulty with math-related word problems?
  6. Does my child seem forgetful? Does my child forget his/her homework at school?
  7. Is my child reading/writing/math skills below grade level?
  8. Is my child experiencing anxiety, frustration, anger, low self-esteem, and even depression due to difficulties in school?

STEP 2 – Preliminary Consultation

The second step is to call 310-979-7575 or email: Milestonesedtherapy@gmail.com to schedule a preliminary consultation. During this consultation you will have the opportunity to talk about your child’s needs, your concerns and your goals.

STEP 3 – Assessment

The third step is to begin the process of understanding the causes of your child’s difficulties. This step begins with an educational assessment. An educational assessment is a way of obtaining in depth information about a child’s educational strengths and weaknesses to determine whether or not he/she requires remediation. Our assessment process usually involves a number of steps including an interview with the child and their family, informal observations obtained during different therapeutic interactions and standardized testing.

STEP 4 – Therapy

The final step of the process is to develop a treatment plan. Our Board Certified Educational Therapist will review the assessment report and determine which therapies would be beneficial to your child. The treatment plan may include a combination of different evidenced based programs and therapies customized to your child’s specific needs.
